Turns / A few fair questions
Jobs. People.
That’s the point.
A newsletter and community for jobs in CPG and retail, with a focus on finance and operations. Here’s why we’re doing it.
What is Turns?
Turns is a community focused on jobs in CPG and retail. We mostly focus on finance and operations people because that’s what we know best. The centerpiece is the newsletter: relevant jobs, people making moves, and connections that help you advance your career.
Why did you start Turns?
We were kind of doing this already. I kept connecting people in my network with jobs. When customers and other people had roles to fill, they’d come to me for recommendations. Eventually, it became too much to keep doing ad hoc. So we started Turns as a newsletter. Hopefully it works.
What is Turns about?
Pretty much just jobs. No one needs another newsletter full of advice and best practices. You’re here to move your career forward. We share opportunities, connect talent with employers, and celebrate people landing new roles.
Does Turns make money on all this?
Hell yes—that’s the plan. This is a finance community. Of course we want to make money. But we want you to make money, too. We’re building a paid introductions program where employers pay to meet relevant candidates and candidates get paid for their time. Pricing and the details are still taking shape. Paid promotions are part of the plan, too. We kind of hate the traditional recruiting business model, so we’re trying to build something better and cheaper.
Is Turns AI?
Kind of. We use AI to help build the newsletters and tools for collecting jobs, plus the back-office work that makes Turns possible. We have day jobs. Humans still decide what belongs in an issue, check the jobs and news, and get permission before sharing a member’s story. Human soul. AI energy. You tell me. What even is AI?
